Using a Sleep Apnea Pillow with a CPAP Machine

One popular non-invasive form of treatment is to use a sleep apnea pillow. This is a pillow specially designed to prevent snoring, which is one of the most common side effects of sleep apnea. A sleep apnea pillow helps keep the sleeper on their side, where they are less likely to snore. The pillows are designed to keep the sleepers head slightly lifted, which reduces the possibility of their airway being obstructed during sleep. A sleep apnea pillow will also align the neck and spine properly, which can help reduce the symptoms as well.
Many sleep apnea sufferers use a CPAP machine during the night to treat their disorder. A CPAP machine utilizes a mask and blows air into the sleeper’s nasal passages in order to keep their airway open. This is one of the most commonly prescribed treatment methods for sleep apnea. By using air pressure to keep the airway open during sleep, the sleeper is able to have uninterrupted breathing, thus allowing them to have a restful sleep.
